When Asbestos Inspections Are Required
November 10, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The EPA identified asbestos as a hazardous air pollutant back in March of 1971. Following its designation, the EPA published the Asbestos National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) in April of 1973. This means the NESHAP regulation has been in effect for the past 40+ years and yet it is still one of the most overlooked regulations. The focus of this webinar will be to assist with a general understanding of the applicable asbestos regulations (EPA & OSHA). The webinar will include the following topics: what is asbestos and why was it used in the construction industry, asbestos-related diseases, a regulatory overview and discussion, identification of suspected and presumed ACMs, how to know when to inspect or not inspect, and the benefits of implementation of an operations and maintenance plan in buildings with existing ACMs.
