The PFAS Train Is Rolling… All Aboard!
September 16, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
PFAS or Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, have been around since the 1940’s and are used in a wide-range of commercial and consumer products from treatments of paper and fabrics, to industrial applications, and use in fire-fighting foams. There are a number of high-profile cases of groundwater contamination from PFAS. These cases are largely associated with manufacturing of PFAS and precursor compounds, and fire-fighting training areas. Toxicological studies have shown that elevated exposure to PFAS can potentially result in liver, endocrine, immunological, and reproductive effects, as well as cancer. In the last several years, over a dozen states have issued guidance and/or screening levels for PFAS in groundwater and/or soils. A number of states are also requesting that PFAS be investigated at current remediation Sites. Please join August Mack for a webinar that will cover the basic information on PFAS, and provide current information on the federal and state response to this emerging contaminant.
