Many of us have heard the term “Superfund” in relation to large environmental cleanup sites, but what is “Superfund” and how is a Superfund site different from environmental cleanups done under other state and federal programs? In this webinar we will explore how the Superfund program came into existence and why it continues today. We will look at the steps a site progresses through to become a part of the Superfund program and how Superfund site cleanups are managed. Lastly, we will look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of a site becoming part of the Superfund program and how this impacts the overall cleanup process. At the end of this webinar you will have a bit-picture understanding of the Superfund site management process as well as a good start on understanding the alphabet soup of acronyms associated with the Superfund program.
