Toxicological studies have shown that elevated exposure to PFAS can potentially result in liver, endocrine, immunological, and reproductive effects, as well as cancer. In the last three years, over a dozen states have issued guidance and/or screening levels for PFAS in groundwater and/or soils, and the U.S. EPA has developed a first ever “action plan” for these compounds. As regulatory interest in this compound grows, sampling, analysis, and remediation methods are being developed. This session will offer an overview of the topic, a look at current state and federal responses, and the status of regulation for these compounds.
