The Project Manager within the Development Services is responsible for assisting clients with real estate transaction and site development services pre- and post-acquisition beyond that of environmental due diligence activities. This includes but is not limited to preliminary soil and groundwater investigations, further site investigations, UST and LUST-related work activities, site characterization, excavation and disposal, and exposure mitigation activities. Work is performed with direction from senior-level personnel, under the general supervision of a Transaction Practice Leader or Principal.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with established health and safety guidelines.
- Provide/manage sufficient amount of work to keep one project management team productive.
- Identify work opportunities with existing and potential clients and make efforts to secure the work through networking and the referral process.
- Supervise technical, field and administrative support staff to achieve established objectives and deadlines.
- Understand and perform all tasks necessary to complete a project’s scope of work. Activities include, but are not limited to, (Investigation) advance soil borings, obtain and field screen soil samples; install, develop and sample groundwater monitoring wells; complete geologic and aquifer studies; prepare samples for the laboratory; perform vapor studies, excavation area assessments, and record searches; (Cleanup) install and operate product recovery systems; perform pilot tests to support remedial system design; conduct remedial system installation and operation; maintain, coordinate and oversee tank removals; and decontaminate manufacturing facilities.
- Responsible for project administration including project/task financial performance, budgeting, recognizing the need for change orders on a project and directing appropriate staff, selecting subcontractors and directing the issuance of purchase orders, approval of subcontractor invoices, directing the preparation of and approving project invoices, maintaining project files, closing the job, preparing project descriptions, and conducting project performance reviews.
- Manage project portfolio and prepare all key project submittals and correspondence.
- Evaluate the needs of a project and effectively delegate various tasks and responsibilities.
- Coach and mentor project team members in the technical and administrative activities required to successfully complete projects.
- Maintain client or internal AME PM contact throughout the project to keep them informed of key project milestones and budget issues.
- Respond to client and prospective client requests.
- Interpret existing regulations and guidance and assist other staff in developing strategies to ensure compliance and execute work.
- Responsible to direct the sales effort by attending sales meetings, coordinating activities with BD, Implementation Senior Manager, and Construction Services Manager, making sales presentations, providing technical information, and following-up on identified opportunities.
- Support marketing effort by conducting webinars, writing newsletter articles, making calls for campaigns, and monthly meetings with existing/potential clients.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Requires 3+ years of project experience in environmental consulting and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, chemistry, engineering, or a related field. Knowledge of environmental cleanup regulations and methodologies and state regulations are necessary. Requires strong computer and verbal/written communication skills. Current Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer licensure is a plus. Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
