The Staff position in Closure is intended to serve as a platform for growth into a Project Manager in our Closure Consulting group. Work is performed under the direction of Managers and Principal. Closure Staff is responsible for developing skills and knowledge in project administration, technical and regulatory expertise, resource management, client management, and company marketing efforts and other initiatives. Service area includes working in various State and federal cleanup programs, including: Indiana’s State Cleanup Program (SCP) and Voluntary Remediation Programs (VRP); similar programs in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and other states; and Federal cleanup programs associated with RCRA, CERCLA, and TSCA.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Health & Safety: Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with established health and safety guidelines.
- Administrative: Assist with coordinating work; budgeting and scoping proposals under direction of Project Manager, Senior, or Principal; preparing HASPs; Project kick-off meetings with PMs, or at the direction of PMs.
- Technical: Understand safety of project tasks; working knowledge of field sampling methods; ability to perform regulatory and technical research on projects; assist in project kick-off meetings and developing field instructions; assist in some field activities, as needed. Training to include RCRA and/or CERCLA, or State program seminars; review/watch a minimum of 10 company webinars per year to understand the breadth of the work we perform in the various business units at August Mack.
- Resource Management: Project support tasks such as scheduling contractors, identifying subs, etc.; delegating work tasks/activities to Closure Coordinator and Technical Services at request of PM, Senior, or Principal.
- Client Management: Any client communication requested by PM, Senior, or Principal.
- Marketing and Company Objectives: Safety; Live our Brand; cultural guidelines; initiate MAP, with focus on the “Meet”; assist with Project Descriptions; research associated with RFPs or other submittals; update resume.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Requires 1+ years of experience in environmental consulting and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, chemistry, engineering, or a related field. Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and methodologies and strong verbal/written communication skills are a must. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. OSHA Hazwoper Certification (40 hours) is a plus.
This classification requires the use of a personal or company vehicle on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable driving record.
