August Mack Environmental, Inc. Client Wins Prestigious Indiana Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence for Maywood Solar Farm Project

INDIANAPOLIS – August Mack Environmental, Inc. (August Mack) is pleased to announce that one of our clients, Hanwha Q Cells USA (HQC), was chosen as the 2015 recipient of the Indiana Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence for the Maywood Solar Farm project in Indianapolis, Indiana. This award recognizes Indiana’s companies who have implemented outstanding environmental strategies or projects..

Not only did August Mack and their subsidiary, Environmental Field Services, Inc. (EFS) work alongside HQC, Vertellus Specialties Inc., Indianapolis Power and Light Company, U.S. EPA, as well as a few other organizations to complete the project, August Mack also nominated HQC for this prestigious honor. Tim DeWitt, Senior Technical Engineer at August Mack, was the Project Engineer on the Maywood site and knew first hand that this was an effort that needed to be recognized in our community.  Tim DeWitt stated, “Hanwha was able to pull all the resources together to complete the first utility scale solar farm on a superfund site, something other developers had tried but were unsuccessful in completing.  This project demonstrates how a property previously thought to be unusable for redevelopment can be developed for renewable energy purposes.  Hanwha was certainly deserving of this award and August Mack was delighted to be part of this innovative project.”

The Maywood Solar Farm project involved developing an engineering plan to convert an inactive United State Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) superfund site into a renewable energy field generating more than 10 megawatts of electricity or enough electricity to power more than 2,000 homes.
